BIO:THE CREATIVE PATH

Greetings! My name is Mikus, my pronouns are they/them/theirs, I am a queer non-binary musician, audio engineer, and artist. As I have been creating and producing music and art for most of my life, I find a deep passion for creating and helping others fulfill their creative vision. With my path in the arts starting in high school while attending Spectrum Community School from 2001-2004, I was introduced to music fundamentals, music production, audio engineering, and learned to play the bass guitar. From there I embarked on a journey of creating music as a personal project of self expression of electronic instrumental music.

I deepened my education while attending community college in Edmonds, WA with a focus in music fundamentals and jazz ensemble, during this time I performed several live jazz events. In 2008 I attended Full Sail University in Orlando, FL for Recording Arts in my ideal of pursuing a career as an audio engineer and music producer. I graduated in 2009 with an  associates degree of science in recording arts. Afterwards I sought to get my foot in the door of the music industry, first gaining an internship at Studio X in Seattle, WA, and later an extensive position at Laughing Tiger Studios in San Rafael, CA as an assistant audio engineer.

With the hardships of student loans and struggling to navigate through a resection, I was dismayed from my career field and had to pursue other means to make ends meet. During this time I was forced away from studio work, but was able to continue my passion of music production through my personal music projects.

Within the past 10 years I have served as a care giver for my parents both in California, and now currently back home in Washington. with the wake of the Covid19 pandemic, I have continued to struggle with financial stability and a successful progression in my career due to the extreme circumstances at hand. Though through these hardships I have found deep connection and support in found community within social justice and yogic spaces.

Though these amazing communities, teachers, and support I seek to give back to in the best ways I am able. To be able to provide accessible and equitable audio services for folks, providing attentive and skillful service for projects from music production, yogic & meditation practices, podcasts, and so much more.

I have been very grateful to be able to collaborate and work with amazing folks in the LGBTQIA+ and BIPOC communities in bringing their audio projects to the life and vibrance, and I am looking forward to continuing to do so with your next project!
